REGISTRATION (Rookie I, Rookie II, Divisional, All-Net) All Head and Assistant coaches must register on-line with NJB Headquarters. Select the CHINO VALLEY Chapter. (Not Chino)
**********THE COACH REGISTRATION MODULE IS WORKING.**********
CERTIFICATION (Rookie I, Rookie II, Divisional, All-Net) To be fully certified, an NJB coach must complete the following two items:
1) All Head Coaches MUST attend an NJB sponsored coaches clinic. Chino Valley NJB has scheduled the following local clinic:
Sunday November 18th, 4:00pm - 6:00pm, Chino Hills HS. Divisional and Rookie League uniforms will be distributed at this event. If a coach cannot attend please send one representative to pick up your uniforms.
Pre-paid fingerprinting will be scheduled for our local clinic.
If you cannot attend then check national's full schedule of Southern California clinics.
2) All Coaches, including Assistants, MUST be fingerprinted by an NJB approved vendor. Fingerprinting is via the Live Scan method which is usually available during NJB clinics. a) If you are fingerprinted through your work or another organization it does not count. b) Live Scan fingerprinting for NJB does not have to be repeated each year, it is good for life.
It is preferred that coaches attend and be fingerprinted our local clinic but CVNJB will reimburse coaches for fingerprinting costs at any NJB clinic.
Live Scan services can be found a various facilities. This is the closest, least expensive facility that we know of:
NOTE: a) A Live Scan Form with the applicable NJB data is available on our website. b) Coaches will be reimbursed up to $16 when using a 3rd party service. c) KEEP YOUR RECEIPT.
PLAYER EVALUATION (Divisional) All Divisional coaches are encouraged to attend the player evaluations scheduled for October 7th. Your personal notes are a major tool in helping you draft a team.
Each Head Coach will be e-mailed details as the event nears. Check our HOMEPAGE often as we will post important information regarding all events.
COACHES "Taco Extravaganza" LUNCHEON (Rookie I, Rookie II, Divisional) It is important for all Head Coaches to attend our Coaches Luncheon scheduled for Sunday, October 21st, 3:00pm at Sandra's Mexican Grill (map). Its function is to introduce all coaches to this year's Board and each other. As a league we must come together and be versed on the rules and policies that are set forth by National as well as our those within our Chapter.
Important information will be distributed at this event including compiled evaluation scores to support the divisional player drafts. You must attend the event (or send a representative) to receive the evaluation scores.
Please bring your questions and ideas regarding our Chapter and NJB in general. If you know of someone that is interested in being a coach and did not sign up during player registration, please forward their name to a Player Agent and have them plan to attend this breakfast. We look forward to seeing you all there!

See the Team Info webpage for the size ball to be used for your division. Coaches should maintain a small first aid kit for cuts/scratches.

Uniforms will be distributed at the Nov 18th Coaches Clinic. (4:00pm @ CHHS)
SCHEDULES/STANDINGS/PLAYOFFS (Divisional) Game schedules will be posted on our website as soon as they are available which, depending on late changes, may be close to 1 week before our first games. The Team Info webpage has an overview of our regular season and playoff philosophy which is used to derive the schedules.
If coaches have any SPECIAL circumstances regarding Sunday availability please contact the Scheduler ASAP so that we can attempt to accommodate you BEFORE the schedule is released.
Standings will be based on Won/Lost record.
In a situation where two (2) or more teams are tied the following tie-breakers shall apply:
1) Head to head competition.
2) Point differential ("Points For" minus "Points Against") The differentials (maximum of 13 points) of each game between only the tied teams are totaled and the teams are ranked accordingly. For ties between three teams the one with the lowest differential total is eliminated and finishes in the 3rd position. 1st and 2nd positions are then determined by head-to-head competition between the remaining two (2) teams. For ties between more than three (3) teams tie-breaker (1) and (2) shall be evaluated in an iterative fashion.
NOTE: If the tied teams did not play each other over the regular season then the CVNJB Board shall make the final determination of playoff ranking.
GAME RULES (Divisional) NJB has some unique rules regarding player participation and types of defense you can play, among others. The Player Advantage rule will be in effect. It is imperative that coaches study the rules and are knowledgeable of how they apply to their specific division. Explaining the rules to your players and parents can help prevent misunderstandings on game day. This is especially true for the Player Advantage Rule. Check the rules out HERE.
GYM DUTY (Divisional) Coaches arriving early for their games or staying late to watch the following game are expected to represent our league as Site Directors. These Head or Assistant Coaches can help oversee gym operations and handle any questions which may arise during the normal course of business. This responsibility typically does not entail game type disputes as referees have authority over each game but does extend to crowd control. If you see something that does not seem right please step up and help. Any support is appreciated.
BANNERS (Divisional) Teams may elect to have a team banner. Read details on the Team Info webpage.
PICTURES (Rookie I, Rookie II, Divisional, All-Net) Read details on the Team Info webpage.
SAFE ENVIRONMENT (Rookie I, Rookie II, Divisional, All-Net) It is REQUIRED that an adult female be in attendance at all girl's division practices. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that an adult male and female be in attendance at all team practices. One or both of these individuals may be coaches. This applies to boys and girls teams in all divisions.
GAME TIME INFO (Divisional) Coaches MUST provide a roster with player names and numbers to the scorekeeper immediately prior to the game.
COACHES CONDUCT (All Teams) The Head Coach is totally responsible for the conduct of his assistant coaches, players, fans, and himself. Improper conduct on the part of the players, coaches, and/or spectators can result in warnings, technical fouls, ejections, and suspensions. The referee will deal directly with the players and coaches. Coaches and/or league representatives, if available, must deal with any issues involving the spectators.
NJB Referees discuss the rules of conduct with Head Coaches during each pre-game meeting. Note that this pre-game meeting is intended to be the coaches 1st warning regarding improper conduct. At that time they present the “Blue Card” which, if shown during the game, signifies that a technical foul has been issued to the Head Coach due to unacceptable behavior from a coach or fan. A 2nd infraction ejects the Head Coach from the game and he/she must exit the gymnasium. Should a 3rd infraction occur the game is forfeited and the offending team is placed on immediate suspension.
A coach ejected from a game shall be suspended for the following two games. If this happens twice in the same season, that coach shall be dismissed for a period of 1 year from the date of the infraction.
