Rules

Winter 2007-2008

 

The 2007-2008 rules have not yet been published but only minor changes are expected from last year's which are shown below:

The following applies to all Divisional games:

-       All games consist of five 8 minute periods.

o      Running clock except for:

§       Time outs (45 seconds)

§       Shooting fouls (restart when ball touched after the shot)

-       Free throws

o      1 plus 1 on 10th team foul in each half.

-       Time-outs

o      2 per half.

-       Player Participation

o      Every player must play one full continuous period in each half.

o      Every player must sit out one full continuous period before the 5th

§       Exception if 5 or 6 player rule is in effect.

o      5th period is FREE SUBSTITUTION.

-       Player Advantage Rule

o      Read about it HERE.

 

Division 1 specific rules:

-       Man-to-man defense REQUIRED in 1st half.

o      Defensive player must be within 6’ of man with ball.

o      Double team of player WITHOUT the ball is prohibited.

-       Full court press allowed anytime.

-       15 foot free throw.

 

Division 2 specific rules:

-       Man-to-man defense REQUIRED in 1st half.

o      Defensive player must be within 6’ of man with ball.

o      Double team of player WITHOUT the ball is prohibited.

-       Half court press allowed anytime.

-       Full court press allowed after the 4th period.

-       12 foot free throw.

 

Division 3 specific rules:

-       Any defense allowed.

-       Players may not play defense until:

o      They have retreated and placed foot within the 3-point arc.

o      The ball has advanced past the designated “attack” line.

-       Defensive rounder MUST PASS THE BALL before half court if shot hits the rim or backboard.

o      Pass must be COMPLETED in the backcourt.

-       Half court press allowed after the 4th period.

-       Full court press allowed last 2 minutes of 5th period and overtime.

-       10 foot free throw.

-       Each player shoots a free throw before the game starts.

o      Points count toward final score.
